Cliff's Wine Picks

I was honored by Kingsford Charcoal and Sysomos Monitoring as the “Nicest Person in Social Media” in 2012.

I am an IT Professional, part time wine store employee, and full time wineaux.  I love all wines, but a high percentage of the wines I own and drink are from California.  My favorite wines are generally made with the Rhone varietals, mainly Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvedre.  I will never turn down a nice Cabernet or Pinot Noir.  I have been known to rant on occasion about the lack of decently priced Merlots.  I’d love to find an under $20 Merlot…any suggestions?

I have been a wine enthusiast for a couple of decades.  I have visited the Napa/Sonoma regions several times.   I converse with wine makers and owners very frequently.  I have a very loyal and fairly large group of “friends” on Twitter, and a growing list on Facebook.  I work a few hours a month at a local wine store that affords me a great opportunity to sample even more wines.  For a few years I poured multiple wine tastings per month at the store which required me to be able to communicate with both novice and very advanced wine tasters.
