This Loire Valley wine is a blend of 70% Grolleau, 20% Gamay and 10% Cabernet Franc. The wine is a light pink salmon color. The fresh and fruity nose has strawberries, cherries, subtle underbrush, white pepper and orange zest. This has medium body with nice acidity and is just off-dry. On the palate tart red fruit and orange zest lead the way with a hint of white pepper coming through in the background. The finish has good length with sweet fruit hanging on. The wine is a light yellow color with a slight green tint. The intriguing nose has pears, roasted nuts, lemon zest, chalky minerals, smoke, white peach and thyme. This seems totally dry, has medium body and great acidity. On the palate pears, minerals and roasted nuts quickly jump out with white peach and lemon zest coming in later. The finish has great length with more lemon, minerals and a touch of thyme. This is very tasty and gets better as it warms a touch and gets some air. A fantastic example of a Loire Chenin Blanc. Notes – I use the “official” Cellar Tracker name for the wines. I use Cellar Tracker to help manage and organize my cellar. I highly recommend checking it out at www.cellartracker.com. Loading you existing cellar is a lot less intimidating than it would first appear. There is a good chance 99% of your wine is already in the system, so you generally only need to enter part of the wine’s name and the system will find it for you.
Prices noted are the prices I paid at the time of purchase. I don’t shop around to find the best prices, but always check out the sale and close out items when in a store. Wines purchased direct from a winery do not include any shipping charges. None of the prices include the sales tax.
All wines that were sent to me free of charge to sample will be noted and I will show suggested prices when available.
Cheers!
